Does Ring require a subscription?
Ring cameras work without a subscription for live viewing and Two-Way Talk. A Ring Home plan (formerly Ring Protect) adds video recording, person and package detection, Familiar Faces recognition, and cloud storage. Most luxury clients opt for the Premium plan with unlimited cameras and 180 days of history.
What's the difference between the Wired Doorbell Pro and the Wired Doorbell Elite?
Both are Ring's flagship 4K doorbells. The Wired Doorbell Pro runs on standard doorbell wiring (16-24 VAC transformer) and is the simpler retrofit. The Wired Doorbell Elite is PoE only, with power and data over a single Cat6 cable, eliminating the doorbell transformer altogether. The Elite is what we specify for new construction and for serious homes that already have structured wiring in place.
What's the advantage of PoE over wireless?
Power over Ethernet delivers constant power and data through a single cable. No batteries to replace, no Wi-Fi signal to drop, and no bandwidth competition with your other devices. It's the only installation method we recommend for a permanent, reliable system. The Spotlight Cam Pro PoE, Outdoor Cam Pro PoE, and Wired Doorbell Elite are all designed for this approach.
Can Ring cameras integrate with my smart home?
Yes. Ring integrates with Alexa natively (Amazon owns Ring) and can be connected to Control4, Lutron, and Apple Home through our programming. Motion events can trigger lighting scenes, shade positions, and alarm responses across your entire system. The new Alexa+ Familiar Faces feature also lets your Echo devices announce specific named individuals when they arrive.
How many cameras does a typical home need?
Most luxury residences use 6 to 12 Ring cameras to cover all entries, the driveway, garage, backyard, and key interior spaces. We design a custom camera plan for every property based on a full site assessment.
Can you install Ring in an existing home without major construction?
