Josh.ai is a private, AI powered voice and control platform built for the luxury home. Instead of memorizing rigid commands, you simply talk to your house the way you would talk to a person. Say "OK Josh, make the lights warmer, drop the shades, and put on some jazz," and every one of those things happens at once, in the room you are standing in.
Josh is built for home control rather than for shopping or advertising, which is why it behaves so differently from a retail smart speaker. It is sold exclusively through certified dealers, which means the microphones, the touchscreens, and the automation behind them are engineered for your floor plan and supported long after the install is finished. Natural Voice Commands
No command list to memorize and no wake word gymnastics. Josh understands compound requests, follow up questions, and casual phrasing, and it knows which room you are speaking in.
Lighting & Shades
Native integration with Lutron, including HomeWorks, RadioRA 3, Caseta, and Ketra. Describe a scene instead of recalling one, or dim a single fixture. On Ketra, that extends to natural white from 1,400K to 10,000K and a palette of 16.7 million colors.
Music Everywhere
Spotify, Apple Music, TIDAL, TuneIn, SiriusXM, Pandora, and iHeartRadio across Sonos and distributed audio. Describe the song you half remember and Josh will find it.
Video & Entertainment
Ask for a title and Josh powers on the TV and opens the right service. Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu, Apple TV, HBO Max, Peacock, YouTube, Xfinity, DISH, and Kaleidescape.
Cameras & Access

Automation That Adapts to You
Josh is more than a voice interface. It watches the conditions in your home and takes action on them. Conditional logic drives energy usage, security, and comfort in the background, so the house is already right when you walk into it.
AI Scenes read the devices actually installed in your home and propose automations worth having. You can also type or dictate a scene in plain language, including schedules, triggers, custom responses, and the words you want to use to call it.
Josh improves over the air. New features, better voice handling, and support for new devices arrive on their own, without a truck roll and without replacing hardware. The current platform, AI X OS, added intelligence controllers for audio and lighting, a customizable app dashboard, AV distribution over IP, camera event capture, and JoshGPT 3.0.
Hardware Designed to Disappear
Josh devices are made to sit inside architecture rather than on top of it. We specify finishes and placement during design so the microphones land where they will actually be used and stay invisible everywhere else.
Josh Core
The brain of the system, and the reason Josh keeps working when the internet does not. A six core ARM processor over Gigabit PoE, handling up to 500 devices and up to 100 microphones, with multi VLAN support and dual processor redundancy on large estates.
Two VoiceLink outputs carry Josh's replies into distributed audio, so the house can answer you in the room you are standing in. Any Nano based system is built around one. At 8.5 by 7 inches and just over an inch tall, it disappears into the rack and takes power from the same Ethernet run that connects it.
Josh Touchscreen
Edge to edge IPS glass in 8 or 10 inch, in polished black or ceramic white. An 800 by 1280 display at 450 nits, capacitive touch, a quad symmetric core processor, proximity and ambient light sensors, and a tap to talk voice button. Powered over Ethernet, on the wall or on a stand.
Josh Nano
An architectural microphone barely larger than a quarter, 42mm square and 3mm deep. It mounts flush, disappears into the finish, and knows which room it is in, so a command applies where you are standing. Coral White and Jet Black, or a custom painted cover to match any finish. Includes a physical privacy switch and a temperature sensor, and runs on Josh Core.
Josh Micro
A countertop, shelf, or wall device with a built in speaker and a capacitive touch dial, so Josh can answer out loud and play audio on its own. Carrera White and Onyx Black, and inducted into the CEDIA Smart Home Awards Product Hall of Fame in 2025.
A far field microphone array hears it from across the room, and the top surface takes a tap, a double tap, or a swipe to change volume without saying anything. It is 98mm across and 44mm tall, runs wired over Ethernet or on Wi-Fi, takes power over USB-C, and can be wall mounted where a shelf is not an option.
Because it answers out loud, Micro goes where people ask questions rather than only give commands: kitchens, primary suites, home offices. Announcements and spoken replies come from the Micro itself, without borrowing a zone from the audio system.
Josh Edge
A remote that runs the room, not just the television. Milled from solid aluminum, IPX4 rated, and charged wirelessly on its base, with six interchangeable backlit buttons drawn from more than fifty icons, a navigation pad, media keys, and a tap to talk microphone in the center. Winner of the 2025 CE Pro BEST Award for Best User Interface in Control and Automation.
The backlighting reads the room and adapts, so the keys stay legible in a dark theater without glaring at you. Battery life runs about three months between charges and it tops up on its base. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5, and it works with either Josh Core or Josh One.
Because the buttons are physical and labelled, it is the control anyone picks up and uses without being taught, which matters in a house with guests, family, or staff.
AVA Home Remote
The RX1 brings the same glass keypad and voice control to everyday rooms, with scene keys for Movie Night or Good Night and whole home commands such as "turn on all the lights in the house" from the couch.
AVA Cinema Remote
Also part of the Josh family. The AVA Cinema Remote, shown above, is built for the theater and the media room, with a three dimensional glass keypad, an on screen interface for lights, shades, and climate without leaving your seat, and an embedded microphone. Josh One is the compact entry level processor, handling up to 100 devices and installing with nothing more than power and Ethernet, for homes that do not need the capacity of Josh Core. The Josh App for iOS and Android puts rooms, devices, scenes, and cameras in your pocket, at home or anywhere in the world.

Ask for what you want and Josh handles the rest. It powers on the display, switches to the right input, opens the correct streaming or cable service, and finds the title, so nobody has to remember which box the movie lives on.

A Conversation, Not a Command Line
JoshGPT turns the same microphone you use for the lights into a knowledgeable assistant. Ask for a wine pairing while you cook, a substitution mid recipe, the story behind the song that is playing, or help sorting out a travel itinerary, and you get a real answer rather than a web search read aloud.
It covers music, art, cooking, history, travel, trivia, locale, entertainment, math, fashion, nutrition, and sports, and it holds context across a conversation so follow up questions work the way they should.
JoshGPT 3.0 also applies that reasoning to the house itself, interpreting loose requests like "set the lights to the colors of a Caribbean sunset" without anyone having to build that scene first, on fixtures that can render color such as Ketra and Lumaris.

How much does Josh.ai cost?
Josh.ai is priced per project rather than off a shelf. Cost depends on how many rooms get voice, which devices you choose, whether Josh is running the whole system or layering onto an existing platform, and what it needs to integrate with. A single room starting point looks very different from an estate with voice in twenty spaces. We provide detailed, itemized proposals after a consultation, including the Josh software plan that fits the project.
Can I buy Josh.ai without a dealer?
No. Josh.ai is sold and installed exclusively through certified dealers. The system has to be designed, configured, and integrated with the rest of your home, and Josh provides dealers with remote support tools so problems get solved without waiting for a service visit.
How is Josh.ai different from Alexa, Google Home, or Siri?
Retail assistants are built around shopping, search, and advertising, and home control is a side feature. Josh is built for the home first. It understands compound commands in one breath, knows which room you are speaking in, works with professional lighting and A/V platforms that retail assistants cannot touch, and does not monetize your data. It is also supported by a dealer instead of a help page.
Is Josh.ai always listening? What happens to my recordings?
Josh devices listen locally for the wake phrase and only act after they hear it. Once woken, speech is converted to text over an encrypted connection and the command is then carried out locally. You can review your command history in the app and delete individual commands or the entire history at any time. Josh does not sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising, and microphones can be muted per device.
Does Josh.ai work with Control4, Crestron, and Lutron?
Yes. Josh integrates natively with Lutron lighting and shading, with Crestron and Control4 for distributed audio and video, and with Sonos and most major camera, lock, thermostat, and streaming platforms. Many of our projects keep an existing control system in place and add Josh as the voice and AI layer on top of it.
What is AI X OS?
AI X OS is the operating system Josh runs today. It puts AI behind the everyday parts of the system rather than only behind the voice assistant: intelligence controllers that tune audio and lighting, AI Scenes that suggest automations based on the devices you actually own, a customizable dashboard in the app, AV distribution over IP, camera event capture, and JoshGPT 3.0. It arrives as a software update on existing hardware.
What is the difference between Josh Nano and Josh Micro?
Josh Nano is an architectural microphone that installs flush in a wall or ceiling and disappears into the finish, which makes it the right choice for most rooms in a designed home. Josh Micro sits on a counter or shelf and includes a speaker, so it can answer out loud and play audio on its own. Most homes we design use Nano throughout and Micro in a few key spaces. Nano runs on a Josh Core processor, which is part of any Nano based system.
What is the difference between Josh Edge and the AVA remotes?
Josh Edge is the everyday room remote with dedicated keys for lights, shades, fans, and scenes plus a press to talk microphone. The AVA Cinema Remote adds a three dimensional glass keypad with mechanical feedback and an on screen interface, which is what you want in a theater or media room where you are controlling picture, sound, lighting, and shades from a seat. The AVA Home Remote, the RX1, brings that same machined aluminum keypad experience to living rooms and bedrooms.
Do I need a Josh device in every room?
No. Voice belongs where you will actually use it: kitchens, primary suites, entries, offices, and outdoor living. Other rooms are covered by the app, a touchscreen, a keypad, or a Josh Edge remote. Part of the design conversation is deciding where microphones earn their place and where they do not.
Can Josh.ai be added to an existing home?
Yes. Josh works in both new construction and retrofit. Josh Micro and Josh Edge need no wiring beyond power, and Josh Nano is often practical during a remodel or wherever ceiling and wall access already exists. As a technology company we do not open or patch walls ourselves, so retrofits that need access cuts are coordinated with your contractor.
What happens if the internet goes down?
Your automation, scenes, and schedules run locally and keep working. Remote app access and the conversational features that reach the cloud pause until the connection returns, while in home control through touchscreens, keypads, and remotes continues normally.

Yes. Every client gets post installation support, and our monthly maintenance plans include 24/7 priority access, firmware and software updates, system health checks, and preferred pricing on future work.
