Your Questions, Answered
At VIP Smart Homes, technology is only half the equation. The true luxury we provide is peace of mind. Founded by an industry veteran who spent a decade working for Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen (leading the team in charge of his global residential technology across luxury estates, private aircraft, mega-yachts, and corporate offices), we bring an uncompromising, billionaire-tier standard of excellence to your property.
Serving premium residences in the Greater Seattle area and worldwide, we combine honest craftsmanship, strict discretion, and an obsessive attention to detail to build systems that intuitively adapt to your lifestyle.

Our team travels globally to deliver the same white-glove experience regardless of location.
Our Process
How does the VIP Smart Homes process work?
We handle every detail from concept to completion. It starts with a private consultation to understand your lifestyle and goals. We then engineer a customized system architecture with a transparent, detailed proposal. Our expert technicians install everything with surgical precision, blending technology invisibly into your home's design. We provide hands-on training so the technology is effortless. And you receive our industry-leading 24/7 support with regular check-ins, proactive updates, and immediate troubleshooting for the life of your system.
How do I get started?
Contact us through our website or call us directly to schedule your private consultation. We'll assess your home, goals, and infrastructure, in person or virtually. You'll receive a custom design and quote. Upon approval, we schedule a professional, minimally disruptive installation. The entire process is designed to be stress-free from first conversation to final handoff.
Do you work with architects and interior designers?
Yes. We regularly collaborate with architects, builders, and interior designers across the Greater Seattle area and beyond. We provide lighting plans, low-voltage specifications, and control system designs that integrate seamlessly with your project's architectural and design documents, ideally from the earliest design phases.
Why VIP Smart Homes
Why choose VIP Smart Homes over a DIY setup?
Three reasons. First, billionaire-tested expertise: our leadership spent a decade managing the global technology portfolio for Paul Allen, engineering flawlessly integrated, highly secure systems across international luxury estates, private aircraft, and yachts. We bring that exact standard to your home. Second, unified ecosystems: off-the-shelf DIY gadgets leave you juggling five different apps. We build cohesive, reliable systems with true single-interface control. Third, unrivaled service: real, local 24/7 support with no offshore call centers and no automated menus.
What areas do you serve?
VIP Smart Homes is based in the Greater Seattle area, with deep roots serving luxury homeowners across Seattle, Bellevue, Medina, Mercer Island, Sammamish, Snoqualmie, and the Eastside. That said, we are not limited by geography. We design, install, and support smart home systems for clients across the United States and internationally. Wherever the project is, our team travels to deliver the same white-glove experience.
Cost, Expansion & Support
How much does a smart home integration cost?
Costs vary based on the scale of the property, the number of devices, and the sophistication of the automation. As a bespoke provider, we offer custom quotes following your private consultation. Whether you're seeking a focused upgrade (such as Lutron lighting and shades for a single home) or a full estate integration across multiple buildings, our solutions balance luxury with practicality and deliver immense long-term value.
Can I upgrade or expand my system later?
Absolutely. We design every system on a robust, scalable infrastructure. Adding new rooms, outdoor entertainment zones, additional surveillance, or advanced automations later is seamless and highly efficient, far beyond what piecemeal DIY approaches can offer. Your system grows with your needs.
What happens if something breaks or needs service?
You simply call us. 24/7. You'll receive responsive, professional help immediately. We leverage our deep engineering expertise to provide quick fixes, system recalibrations, or part swaps, ensuring your home stays performing at its absolute best, year after year. For ongoing care, we offer proactive monthly support plans starting at $500/month.
Do you offer ongoing maintenance plans?
Yes. Our subscription support plans include 24/7 priority access, monthly system checks, software and firmware updates, hardware health inspections, proactive network monitoring, and living system documentation. Plans start at $500/month with no contracts. Cancel anytime. Learn more about Support Plans →
Lutron Lighting & Shades
What Lutron systems do you install?
We are a certified Lutron dealer specializing in HomeWorks QSX (the most powerful whole-home platform), RadioRA 3 (wireless automation for existing homes), and the full family of Lutron light sources including Ketra (full-spectrum tunable), Rania (natural white), and Lumaris (intelligent tape light and downlights). We also install the complete Lutron shading lineup including Palladiom, Sivoia, and Triathlon.
What is the difference between Ketra, Rania, and Lumaris?
Ketra is Lutron's flagship with full-spectrum color (1,400K-10,000K), 16.7 million colors, and lifetime color accuracy. Rania delivers natural white light (1,800K-5,500K) with 90+ CRI at a lower investment. Lumaris covers 1,800K-4,000K for accent and utility lighting. Many luxury homes use all three: Ketra in showcase rooms, Rania in primary living spaces, and Lumaris for coves, under-cabinets, and architectural details.
Do I need a Lutron dealer for installation?
Yes. Lutron's professional platforms (HomeWorks, RadioRA 3) and architectural light sources (Ketra, Rania) require certified dealer specification, installation, and programming. VIP Smart Homes is a certified Lutron dealer serving Greater Seattle and beyond.
Can Lutron work in an existing home without rewiring?
Yes. RadioRA 3 is designed specifically for existing homes. It uses wireless Clear Connect RF technology with no new wiring required. Triathlon wireless shades run on batteries lasting 3-5 years. Most existing homes can be fully automated without opening a single wall.
Do you offer lighting design services?
Yes. Through our partnership with Lutron, we connect clients with Lutron's professional lighting design team. We offer two programs: a Lighting Layout service ($2/sq ft) for ceiling fixture plans, and a Full-Service Design for comprehensive whole-home lighting with renderings and on-site support.
