Invisible Design. Uncompromising Sound.
Stealth Acoustics builds the best sounding invisible speakers available: full range audio systems that mount within your drywall and completely disappear from view. No grilles. No visible hardware. No compromise on the architecture of your room.
The wall surface is finished over the speaker exactly like any other drywall surface in your home. Your drywall contractor mudds and textures it. Your painter paints it. Your guests will never know it's there. Until the music starts.
Stealth Acoustics is a Mount Vernon, Washington based manufacturer that pioneered the invisible speaker category, releasing the first flat radiating diaphragm speakers in 2003. The current 8th generation LineaRadiance line is the result of twenty years of refinement in the same product category.
VIP Smart Homes is an authorized Stealth Acoustics dealer. We design, install, and integrate invisible speaker systems for luxury residences, from whole home distributed audio to dedicated home theater surround sound.
LineaRadiance LR430
The LR430 is Stealth Acoustics' flagship invisible speaker: a dual 8" 3-way system that delivers audiophile grade sound and chest thumping bass from within a completely finished drywall surface. It's the speaker we specify for premium installations where the audio has to be as exceptional as the architecture.
Unlike traditional cone speakers that project sound in a narrow beam, Stealth's flat radiating diaphragm technology produces a 170 degree sound field, filling the entire room with consistent, even audio from wall to wall. There is no sweet spot. Every seat is the best seat.
Full range frequency response down to 35Hz, exceptional dynamics, and enough low end authority for most living spaces. For dedicated theaters or rooms that demand serious LFE impact, we pair the LR430 with Stealth's LR30W or LR24W invisible subwoofers for a fully concealed cinema system.
Every 8th generation LineaRadiance speaker ships with an integrated, acoustically tuned back box (removable for installations that require alternate back boxes, like Stealth's UL listed MBX metal back box for commercial code compliance or the MBC metal back box for installations where the rear of the speaker enclosure is framed into a masonry or concrete wall structure).
The LR430 anchors the current 8th generation LineaRadiance line, which also includes smaller models (LR324, LR224, LR224S stereo, and LR116) for rooms where the 430 isn't appropriate.
The longest warranty in the invisible speaker category. And it covers more than just the speaker. If a Stealth speaker fails, they cover the removal, repair or replacement, and installation of the speaker panel, plus restoration of the drywall surface to a primed state ready to accept paint, texture, or other approved wall finish. That's how confident they are in what they build.
Flat radiating diaphragm technology fills the entire room with even, consistent audio from wall to wall. No sweet spot. Every seat is the best seat.
From Stud Bay to Finished Wall
Stealth Acoustics speakers are installed during construction or renovation. The pre-wire and speaker location are reserved with PlaceSavers during framing, the speaker itself is installed after drywall is hung but before mudding, and the wall is then finished over the speaker face exactly the way every other drywall surface in your home is finished. The result is a wall that looks, feels, and finishes like the rest of the room.
During the framing or pre-drywall phase, we install Stealth's PlaceSavers at each speaker location to reserve the exact cutout space, and run speaker wire from your equipment rack to each location secured to the studs. The PlaceSavers protect the cutout from jobsite humidity and debris until the actual speaker panel is installed later in the process.
After drywall is hung around the PlaceSaver but before any taping or mudding begins, we remove the PlaceSaver, check speaker registration with the surrounding wallboard, install shims where needed for a flush perimeter, connect and test the wiring, then secure the speaker panel directly to the framing with the supplied screws. Every 8th generation LineaRadiance speaker has an integrated, acoustically tuned back box already attached.
Your drywall contractor tapes and muds the seam around the speaker. Joint compound is feathered out at least 12 inches around the perimeter for a seamless transition. No more than 1/16 inch (2 mm) of finish material is applied over the speaker face, a Stealth specification that preserves both sound quality and warranty coverage.
Your painter applies up to four coats of latex paint, or your chosen approved finish (light orange peel texture, traditional or vinyl wallpaper, or a thin plaster topcoat). The speaker is now completely invisible. Flush with the wall, indistinguishable from the surrounding drywall by sight or touch.
We connect, calibrate, and integrate every speaker into your Sonos, Control4, or Crestron system. Zones, sources, and volume levels are programmed so your audio works from any keypad, app, or voice command.
Where Invisible Speakers Excel
Living Rooms & Great Rooms
The most common application. Background music, TV audio, and entertaining, all from speakers your interior designer never has to accommodate. No grilles, no compromises on the room's aesthetic.
Home Theaters
The LR430 paired with LR30W or LR24W invisible subwoofers can be installed behind acoustically transparent screens or behind the drywall of a dedicated theater for a fully immersive surround sound experience with zero visible hardware.
Bedrooms & Primary Suites
Audio that belongs to the room without competing with it. Wake to music at any volume the room calls for, fall asleep without a single grille or driver visible on the walls or ceiling. The cleanest possible audio install for a space where the visual quiet matters as much as the sound.
Outdoor Spaces
Stealth's separate StingRay outdoor line delivers weather rated audio for patios, decks, and pool areas. Surface mount models can be painted or custom finished to blend with your architecture, or the StingRay Soffit Kit hides speakers completely under eaves for invisible outdoor sound.
Commercial Spaces
Lobbies, conference rooms, restaurants, and retail environments where visible speakers undermine the design intent. Sound everywhere, hardware nowhere.
Home Gyms & Wellness Rooms
Motivating audio without bulky speakers cluttering your workout space. Invisible speakers deliver high energy sound from clean, uninterrupted walls, so your gym looks as sharp as a boutique studio, not a college dorm room.
Common Questions About Invisible Speakers
Do invisible speakers really sound good?
Yes. Stealth Acoustics speakers deliver full range, high fidelity audio that competes with traditional in wall and bookshelf speakers. The flagship LR430 with its dual 8" woofers produces bass and dynamics that genuinely surprise people. They don't sound "good for invisible speakers." They sound good, period.
Can I install them in an existing home?
It depends. Installation is easiest during new construction or renovation when walls are open. In existing homes, it's possible if you're willing to open and refinish a section of drywall. We assess your specific situation and recommend the best approach.
What wall finishes are supported?
Here's the principle that drives the answer: a Stealth invisible speaker doesn't sit behind the wall, it becomes part of the wall. The speaker face itself is a flat radiating diaphragm. Transducers mounted to the back vibrate the entire FidelityGlass surface, and that vibration is how the speaker makes sound. Whatever finish is applied over the speaker has to be thin and flexible enough to vibrate with it. Per Stealth's installation guidelines, supported finishes are latex paint (Stealth recommends up to four coats), light orange peel texture, traditional or vinyl wallpaper up to 1/16 inch thick, and heavy plaster or Level 5 finishes with the proper shimming technique. Maximum material coverage over the speaker face is 1/16 inch (2 mm). The following are not supported: stone, tile, ceramic, or any rigid or stone-look material (the speaker face cannot vibrate through them, so the speaker either dampens to inaudible or fails entirely), heavy knockdown or trowel finishes, and foam, sponge, or extra-thick decorative wallpaper. For wood veneer or any other specialty finish, we consult Stealth directly before committing. Some specialty finishes have a documented Stealth procedure; many do not. We never assume.
What are the back box accessories for? Can the speaker face finish in concrete or masonry?
No. The speaker face always finishes within drywall, regardless of what's behind it. Stealth's back box accessories are about the wall structure behind the speaker, not the finish material over the face. The MBC Metal Back Box is used when the rear of the speaker enclosure needs to sit within a masonry or concrete wall framing situation. The MBX Metal Back Box provides a UL listed enclosure for commercial code applications. The MBA Adjustable Metal Back Box handles variable depth scenarios. None of these change what the speaker face finishes into. The face is always drywall with one of the supported finishes above, because the face itself has to vibrate to produce sound.
Can they be used for surround sound and Dolby Atmos?
Yes. Stealth makes wall and ceiling models that can be configured into full surround sound and Dolby Atmos layouts. We've built complete invisible theater systems with no visible speakers anywhere in the room. The LR430 paired with LR30W or LR24W invisible subwoofers handles even the most demanding cinema content. How do they integrate with Sonos and Control4?
Stealth speakers are passive (amplifier powered), so they connect to any amplifier or AV receiver. We typically pair them with Sonos Amp for distributed audio zones, or dedicated theater amplification for cinema applications, all controlled through your Control4, Crestron, or Sonos app. Audio scenes can also be triggered from Lutron keypads alongside your lighting and shade scenes for a fully unified experience.
Can they be installed in bathrooms, kitchens, or outdoors?
The LineaRadiance invisible speakers featured on this page are designed for standard interior drywall installations in dry locations only. For outdoor audio (patios, decks, pool areas) or applications outside dry interior drywall, Stealth's separate StingRay line is the weather rated solution. We assess each application during the design phase and specify the right product line for the environment.
How much do invisible speakers cost compared to traditional speakers?
Stealth Acoustics speakers carry a premium over traditional in wall speakers. You're paying for the invisible technology and the engineering that makes it work. However, the total installed cost is often comparable when you factor in the elimination of custom grilles, architectural accommodations, and the design compromises that visible speakers require.
What does the 20 year warranty actually cover?
If a Stealth invisible speaker fails within 20 years, Stealth covers the removal, repair or replacement, and installation of the speaker panel, plus restoration of the drywall surface to a primed state ready to accept paint, texture, or other approved wall finish. The final paint or texture is the homeowner's responsibility, since the warranty leaves you ready to call back your painter for the finishing touch. Prior to performing any warranty work, the dealer contacts Stealth Acoustics directly for the claim procedure, which we handle on your behalf.
Can they be repaired if damaged?
Yes. If a wall surface needs repair (nail hole, impact damage), the drywall can be patched and refinished without affecting the speaker. If the speaker itself ever needs service, the wall section can be opened, the speaker accessed, and the drywall refinished, though speaker failures are extremely rare.
